Engel Foreign Food is a supplier of international food products in the Netherlands and beverages and snacks in Europe. These products have been in almost every supermarket for nearly three decades. For years, the company has relied on Wholesale as the backbone of their business processes. Recently, Actemium Advanced's WMS was added.

Thirty years ago, Arab, Asian and American imports were a rarity in Dutch supermarkets. Engel introduced products such as instant noodles and Aloe Vera drinks, which have since gained a prominent place in the market.

As an importer and product developer, Engel Foreign Food constantly responds to new trends to surprise customers with unique and high-quality products.

Wholesale

In 2013, Engel Foreign Food decided to modernize their IT system with Klipboard Wholesale, then known as Unit4 Wholesale. Before that, the organization was running on a system built by an independent developer.

"Logres was already involved as an ERP supplier when I joined Engel," says Rutger ten Feld, business analyst at Engel Foreign Food. I was immediately faced with a choice: continue with this system, or switch to a new system? I chose to continue with Wholesale, because I saw that there was a lot of ambition and also the strength to continue developing functionalities.

We did have to make quite a few updates to move forward. So we had a lot of work to do to get it up and running. Fortunately, Logres helped us carefully, and after each update someone from Logres was on the shop floor to quickly resolve minor problems."

Actemium Advanced

As Engel continued to grow, the need for an additional WMS system increased. The choice fell on Actemium Advanced, primarily because of its existing and proven link to Wholesale. According to Rutger, the integration "went smoothly from the software vendors."

"The cooperation between Logres and Actemium is excellent: you notice it in everything. The new system now gives detailed insight into our stock locations and reduces errors in order processing. This leads to more efficient work and more overview in the warehouse with more than 20,000 pallet locations."

Flexibility and future plans

With Wholesale and Actemium Advanced, Engel Foreign Food has the flexibility to further optimize operations. "The core of our business remains the same, but our needs are constantly evolving. Thanks to Logres, we can respond flexibly to new requirements and customer expectations."

Engel Foreign Food is also looking at further optimization of work processes using software. In this process, Logres will again play an important role.
