Family business Eggink Verpakkingen has been supplying packaging to a variety of customers since 1956, from factories to "the fishmonger at the market." In the Web shop, customers can easily order packaging. The digital engine behind the company is SAP Business One. Aafke te Focht: "We now have much better insight than before."

Eggink sells food packaging as well as industrial packaging and retail packaging. So the clientele is diverse and so are the products. The choice is enormous and the options are many. Orders vary enormously and customization is regularly required, for example by having packaging printed.

Eggink also has to comply with laws and regulations surrounding single use plastics and the waste management fee. Aafke te Focht is operations manager and knows all about it.

'Our products come from all over Europe and also from the Far East. We have warehouses in Enschede and Winterswijk, so a lot of products pass through. Logistically you want to arrange that as efficiently as possible. You want to be able to deliver quickly, but also keep stocks at an acceptable level.

My job is to support our departments in optimizing and improving processes. SAP Business One gives me the tools to do this by unlocking the available data. Moreover, I can write the queries myself to retrieve the data I need. Compared to our previous ERP package, that's quite an improvement!

Future potential

Kerstin Veenhuis is Head of Sales Inside Sales and she too is enthusiastic about SAP Business One. 'Ideally, we can report at customer level. So we can quickly see if a customer submitted more sales to us last year than this year. Then we can anticipate that.'

Prior to SAP Business One, Eggink was using an ERP package specifically designed for the packaging industry. However, that package was no longer being developed and Eggink started looking for a package that did have future potential. That's how the company ended up at Logres. "Jan Verdoorn convinced us of SAP Business One. Especially the flexibility and scalability of the package appealed to us. And it proved to be just that!"

Standard or customized?

Kerstin: "Our employees were very used to always performing certain processes the same way, and now we were suddenly faced with the choice of changing or maintaining those processes.

SAP Business One is so flexible that the package could be completely adapted to our way of working. At first we chose it. A few years later we came back to that choice and wanted to standardize the administration more. Fortunately this was still possible in the system.

Quick response

About Logres, Aafke and Kerstin are satisfied. "When you work closely together there are sometimes bumps. But with Logres we have always been able to overcome them to our satisfaction.
