Automating the assembly process can be quite complex: in fact, during assembly, many different business processes come together. Assembly has elements of purchasing, planning, sales and inventory management in it, but none of the modules associated with it are completely satisfactory.

Companies that do not have software for their assembly often run into problems. For example, individual components may have already been sold to a customer while they were needed for an assembly order or vice versa: you think certain components are in stock, when in fact they have already been assembled into a finished product.

Also, a lot of loose inventory movements have to be manually tracked to book up finished goods and write off loose components. This is very error-prone and also quite time-consuming.

Things get even more complicated when there is outsourced assembly. Manually controlling this process is difficult, time-consuming and extremely error-prone. Fortunately, it can be done differently! What options are there?

• Module Assembly (standard). Here you can create assembly orders for your employees. By creating the assembly order, its components are automatically reserved for this process and (virtually) moved to the assembly warehouse so that they are removed from the sales stock.The assembly worker starts working with the assembly order, collects the components and assembles the final product. After sign-off, the finished product is added to the total sales inventory.

  Assembly orders can also be requested directly from the sales order.

• Module Assembly+. Is your assembly process a little more complicated than the standard? For example, because another semi-finished product must be included in your assembly? Then the module Assemblage + is a solution.In this module there is more layering and in all these layers there is room for automation, for example when it comes to planning, calculating lead time, price calculation and purchasing components and subcomponents. It is possible to create a purchase order directly from the assembly.

  Super convenient is the assembly advice. This advice is provided automatically based on stock withdrawals or automated forcasts based on previous years. You can then create assembly orders in a timely manner to keep your finished product minimum inventory at the desired minimum level.

• Module Outsourced Work. Is part of the assembly done remotely by another company? For example in a sheltered workshop or by a partner abroad? Not only does this module streamline the communication and assembly orders, but it is also possible to include an additional cost component for processing in the total price of the end product.

  Because these costs are charged separately, you can separately reconcile the purchase invoice for these costs with the assembly. As a result, the assembly result is accurately reflected in the accounting records.

Traceability

If you compose products as a wholesaler, then it is often the desire that the original origin of the subcomponents be included end product.

This way, should something be wrong, you can quickly see where the problem is and recall batches if necessary. All this is possible if you work in Wholesale use with batch registration.
