Combining ERP and CRM: what are the possibilities?

You want to switch to an ERP package. Then you'll be ready for all departments and all processes within your company at once. Or isn't it? Is there an ERP package that also includes a full-fledged CRM module? Or would you rather choose a separate CRM package?

When it comes to the combination ERP CRM you mostly hear two opinions. One says that Sales is a specialty and a CRM module in an ERP package can never replace a specialist CRM package.

The other says the added value of combining ERP and CRM ultimately outweighs the inconvenience of a stand-alone CRM package.

At Logres, we are nuanced in this discussion. For one company, it may be important to switch all business processes at once, including customer management. For the other company, a separate CRM package still fulfills an important function.

ERP CRM in one or separate: what factors should you consider?

Are you wondering if it makes sense to add a separate CRM module to your ERP package? Or are you considering linking separate CRM software? This is especially important if you have many digital marketing campaigns out in addition to your sales people that you want to link to your ERP software.

The big advantage of this is that you can calculate the total ROI of your marketing investments because both the marketing investments and their returns (down to the approved bids) are linked.

Other important factors you might consider in deciding between a separate CRM package and integrating customer management into the ERP package are:

  1. How big is the Sales department? How many users are there of the package?
  2. How many clients do you have to manage?
  3. Is the customer contact mostly one-time or are there long-term customer relationships?
  4. How important is after-sales and how much contact is there between customers and the customer service department?

CRM options with SAP Business One and Wholesale

Logres Business Solutions supplies two ERP packages: SAP Business One and Wholesale.

  • SAP Businesss One has an integrated CRM module in which sales managers can manage their opportunities, pipeline and mailings. However, in order to measure and manage campaigns and marketing actions, additional functionality is required. There are various plugins in addition to the sales module that add additional functionality to the existing capabilities. Linking with an external package is also well possible thanks to the Integration Framework.
  • Wholesale does not include a CRM module. However, SuperOffice's software connects seamlessly with this ERP software. Logres built a custom link for this. You can find more information about this package here.
