After more than 25 years in IT, at various large companies and with a variety of software packages, Konrad de Groot is actually back to his roots as account manager biLogres. "The great thing about working with SMEs is that you can see the impact of your work immediately."
Selling was always in Konrad's blood. At the age of fourteen, he started a side job as a salesman at the market, at a fruit and vegetable stand. "I make contact with people easily, love to work and like to help them," he said.
A career full of experience
Konrad began his professional career as an accountant and then advanced to Head of Automation. In that role, he came into contact with various IT software that makes life much easier for SME entrepreneurs.
After a few years, he rolled into a sales position, at a company that sold Electronic Banking Software. "Of course, I had no experience in sales, let alone IT. Still, I found that my background in administrative processes was a great advantage. I understood customers' needs. The job was right up my alley, and I'm glad I got that opportunity at the time."
Personal contact is key
With 25 years of experience in both sales and IT, Konrad has learned a lot. "One of the most important pieces of advice I ever received from my mentor was, 'make sure you're well prepared.' That didn't hurt me and I still carry that advice with me."
After several positions selling software to large companies, he returned to the world of SMEs. Konrad: 'It's nice to be back with hard-working SMEs. I appreciate the personal contact: it does feel a bit like coming home.'
Proud of Logres
Konrad is proud of what Logres has accomplished. "We often take prospects to companies we've helped. It's great to hear what a successful implementation means to them. That's something to be proud of."
"Logres has an awful lot of knowledge and makes complex processes clear and digital. No wonder I'm always welcomed with open arms at customers: people are really happy with us. How great is it to work for such an organization?"
Clearing your head on the water
In his spare time, Konrad clears his head by sailing. And not just any old round on the Loosdrechtse Plassen: he regularly crosses the North Sea with his wife, towards the south coast of England. They have also explored the Scilly Islands and the Channel Islands.
"After a day at the office or on the road, it's important to be outside. Sailing keeps me sane, and it teaches me to work together and face challenges - just like I do at Logres: solve problems practically and in cooperation with the customer.
