There is a lot of research on the effectiveness ERP packages and how they affect the performance of organizations. This is not surprising: ERP packages in particular naturally lend themselves to gathering numbers and insights. These eight recent figures you really should know....

  1. The global ERP software market reached as much as 64 billion euros by 2023

Any company that takes itself seriously uses ERP software, anno 2023. So ERP is big business! With an ROI of 52%, an ERP system costs about 13,000 to 18,000 per user.

Many organizations are using ERP systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs and make better decisions. A survey conducted by Oracle showed that 66% of organizations reported that ERP systems had increased efficiency.

  2. The average ROI for an ERP Project is 52%

If you implement an ERP package, then for every euro invested you will earn back about 1.52 euros. If you compare that to other business investments, then the ROI of an ERP package is thus often a more than worthwhile one!

Organizations that invest in ERP systems often see an increase in efficiency and cost savings. This in turn leads to improved decision-making and customer satisfaction, which in turn can also result in increased revenue.

  3. The total cost-of-ownership for an ERP system is approximately 13,000 to 18,000 per user

The total cost of ownership (TCO) of an ERP system is obviously important when considering an investment. For TCO, all investments must be included. This includes hardware, software, licensing, implementation and support costs.

According to a recent study, the total cost of ownership of an ERP system is estimated at 13,000 - 18,000 euros per user.

Companies often flinch at seeing the cost of an ERP implementation. However, it is important to factor the long-term benefits of investing in an ERP package into your decision.

  1. The standard payback period of an ERP investment is about 2-3 years

Admittedly, investing in a new ERP package is quite a bump that must be taken.

Although the payback period can vary depending on the size and complexity of your organization, but on average most companies report a payback period of about two or three years.

Contrast that with the investment in - to name a few - solar panels on your premises, an ERP package will pay for itself much sooner.

  2. 66% of companies with an ERP package say they have started working more efficiently

Efficiency and eliminating manual operations, that's what you do it all for... Fortunately, two-thirds of companies that take an ERP package find that efficiency does indeed increase.

This is not only because of a piece of automation, but also because access to data is better regulated and management gains valuable insights that can be used to make smart and time-saving decisions.

  3. 62% of companies feel their ERP system has reduced costs

According to a survey of 1,500 companies by Techaisle, 62% of the companies that embraced an ERP package said they were reducing costs thanks to this automation.

The survey also showed that ERP systems were most effective in purchasing and inventory management, where cost savings of up to 30% were reported.

The same survey showed that almost all respondents (96%) indicated that their ERP system was "very successful" or "somewhat successful" in reducing costs in those areas.

  4. 41% of companies with an ERP package say their customer satisfaction has improved

According to a major 2017 customer satisfaction survey by Microsoft, 41% of companies using an ERP package say customer satisfaction has increased since its implementation.

The increased customer satisfaction comes, for example, because companies communicate faster, can guarantee higher delivery reliability, but also, for example, because companies use online customer portal or even because companies have their service desk in better order.

According to FounderJar, that percentage is even higher among companies that have had an ERP package for more than three years. 73% of them say customer satisfaction has increased.

  5. The search for a new ERP package takes an average of 17 weeks

A survey of nearly 1,400 companies found that companies take an average of 17 weeks to find a new ERP package.
