Every year in January, Rainer Zinov, Product Manager of SAP Business One gives an annual opening speech with a look back and a look forward. Interesting for SAP Partners, but certainly also interesting for SAP Business One users!

"Features matter, only as long as the foundations work" kicks off Rainer. In other words, we can come up with super many features and applications, but if the foundation isn't right, you're nowhere....

The basics in order

According to Rainer, the basis of SAP Business One is a reliable and, above all, secure database.

"We are seeing hackers and cybercrime companies increasingly singling out SMEs as targets because they are easier to hack than large companies.

However, we want the same security for our SME customers as we do for large companies using SAP by Design. That's why we invested heavily in securing our data in 2023. When we have to choose what to invest in, security always comes first."

SAP Business One Web Client

The theme of the past year was the accelerated development of the SAP Business One Web Client. The goal is to make SAP Business One fully accessible in the Web browser. This is quite a task, because Internet browsers also have their limitations.

The SAP Business One Web Client now sits at about 50%, and by the end of 2024 that percentage should increase quite a bit! By 2024, more and more (external) functionalities and systems will be unlocked.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The SAP Business Technology Platform is also becoming increasingly important. On this platform, companies can easily build and add new custom functionality to SAP.

Rainer gives the example of a chatbot that retrieves information from SAP Business One and helps users use the system. "Using AI technology and the SAP BTP platform, we had this chat up-and-running in just two days!"

Privacy legislation

So in 2024, significant development will continue on the core of SAP Business One so that the foundation of the system remains as powerful as possible. In addition, further development will continue on the SAP Business Web Client.

Because SAP Business One is used in so many countries, there are also constantly changing privacy requirements that SAP must meet. SAP Business One will be busy with that, too, in 2024.

SAP Business One 11.0

Despite its busy schedule, SAP also always tries to reserve enough room for wishes and improvements that partners and SAP users bring in. Ultimately, it's moving step by step toward SAP Busines One version 11.0. By the middle of 2024, more and more information about this will come out.
