Endomed is a trading company in the medical sector. The company specializes in the distribution of medical devices from European manufacturers, but also has its own line of infusion poles. The company has been using SAP Business One for years, but switched to Logres Business Solutions as its ERP partner four years ago.
"The medical industry is a field full of challenges," says Paul Wingens, Manager of Operations at Endomed.
"We face increasingly stringent regulations such as the Medical Device Regulation (MDR). This legislation was created to improve the safety, quality and effectiveness of medical devices within the European Union. One reason for this was the problems with bad breast implants several years ago. In practice, this means for us that we have to contribute to dossier building and traceability."
Unfortunately, there are also downsides to the new legislation, Paul says. "We regularly find that manufacturers are removing certain products from the range, which are no longer profitable due to the complexity of the regulations. For us, that means we have to be creative with alternatives. Sometimes those are just a little harder to come by, but we remain flexible."
Why Logres?
In 2020, Endomed switched to Logres as its new ERP partner. "With our previous supplier, we felt small and often not heard. Every adjustment cost us a lot of money and communication was difficult," Paul recalls. "With Logres, that was immediately different. We were looking for a partner who really knows us and thinks with us, and Logres is exactly that."
The transition from one ERP partner to another went smoothly, despite being combined with the purchase of new servers. "Going live went without a hitch, and later we upgraded to SAP Business One version 10 without any problems."
Keep improving
In addition to SAP Business One, Endomed also uses solutions such as Boyum B1 UP, Boyum Print & Delivery and a link with Mailchimp for marketing activities.
Since the switch, Endomed, together with Logres, continues to continuously improve the ERP system. "It mainly involves minor adjustments fields, queries and reports that make our life easier. Sometimes we ask for them, but it also happens that Logres points us to a new feature or function that we were not using until then."
The cooperation with Logres
Cooperation with Logres is smooth, according to Paul. "It's nice that we always have fixed points of contact. Our business consultant is in our office every 6-8 weeks and knows our company and our processes inside out. That helps to switch quickly.
What we also appreciate is Logres' pragmatic approach. No empty promises, but clear solutions that work. Nor is it the case that every small adjustment immediately results in a hefty bill. I feel like we're in the race together and growing together."
Future plans
The focus remains on the future. Endomed is constantly improving their systems. We are thinking about moving to the cloud with SAP Business One. Also, in time we will not escape implementing a WMS system, precisely also to remain compliant with legislation. We will keep talking!"
